The center will increase the company’s capacity for technological and scientific innovation necessary to meet its strategic objectives (decarbonization, digitalization…), while generating profitability and ensuring a high visibility on the Group’s commitment to the industry’s energy transition. It will rely on strategic industrial and academic partners experts in the maritime industry (laboratories, companies, startups, shipyards, etc.).

YOUR ROLE

Within the Group Purchasing Department, as the Handling Equipment Lead Buyer (Opex) you are in charge of all the steps of the purchasing act. You are also a key player in the continuous improvement of equipment in relation with the prescriber and the main suppliers. You are in charge of the harmonization of internal processes in your field of expertise, and you are involved in the coordination of various stakeholders in order to suggest the most optimized solutions for the Group.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

1. Challenge, clarify the needs and analyze the specifications
2. Sourcing the best suppliers for your purchasing family
3. Establish and implement the purchasing strategy according to the categories
4. Identify risks and opportunities related to suppliers, market...
5. Consult suppliers
6. Analyze the offers, make TCO simulations
7. Negotiate with suppliers, help for order placement, and potentially for logistics/supply organization
8. Coordinate the preparation of the contract
9. Actively participate in the cost reduction and transformation plan
10. Follow up and report on progress, performance, scorecards - to management and relevant stakeholders
11. Manage and develop your supplier pool
12. Lead your purchasing eco-system (suppliers and internal customers)

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

1. Master degree in engineering or business with a specialization in purchasing
2. At least 8 years experience in a purchasing position, ideally in the field of container terminals and port equipment
3. A strong level of expertise in negotiation on technical subjects is required
4. Knowledge of handling, transport and lifting equipment or their manufacturers, as well as computerized/automated container terminal management systems would be a real asset
5. International exposure, fluent in written and spoken English
6. Relational and leadership skills to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders
7. Result-oriented, creative in finding solutions, rigorous and autonomous
8. Willingness to travel for this position
