The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mine Geologist I to perform daily grade control at assigned mine site. Find new ore by directing underground and surface core drills, establish weekly and monthly mine plan, provide geologic mapping to help find additional ore, and communicate geologic anomalies or strata changes that could affect safety. This position is located at our Brushy Creek Mine in Boss, MO.
Responsibilities:
- Collect grade control information and relate conditions of the mine in relation to grade control.
- Estimate grade of production faces and record information daily; advise on ways to improve the grade at production faces.
- Ensure the most efficient method of mining with the best grade possible; disseminate grade control information to all necessary staff.
- Become familiar with local geology to aid in prospect planning and inform other employees of geologic structures or strata that may affect safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geology Engineering, or related field.
- Valid, current driver's license.
- 1 or less years of experience identifying rocks & minerals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to identify rocks and minerals accurately.
- Ability to identify different strata and map out faults and fractures.
Work Environment, Physical & Lifting Requirements:
- Regularly required to work underground and near moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to wet, humid (non-weather) conditions. May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, talk and hear; occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds.
