GENERAL DESCRIPTION

EDPR, as an international group specialized in renewable energies, is looking for a Senior Legal Associate in charge of public law aspects in relation to project development and operations matters within the France & Belgium BU.

You will be a real business partner for the BU members on these aspects and a coordinator with head office functions, in terms of development, regulatory risk assessment, legal monitoring, and anticipation of project development needs.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Project development – general support in development of various types of energies projects

  • Legal support regarding project development (wind onshore, PV, agri-PV, storage) – risk assessment, regulatory analysis
  • Implementation of templates and processes to optimize the legal part of project development
  • Review of legal documents
  • Support in tariff applications
  • Support in land strategy

2. Litigation and claims:

  • Management of project or plants litigations (participation in decisions, selection of lawyers, coordination with external and internal stakeholders, planning optimization, review of briefs)
  • Responsible for legal reporting of litigations and claims
  • Participation in the litigation strategy

3. Asset management

  • Regulatory support on plants in operation
  • Review of sponsoring requests in the light of applicable laws and of group processes

4. Town planning:

  • Possible support in urban planning issues (legal analysis, training, global strategy)

5. Land and real estate:

  • Implementation and adaptation of models, guarantor of follow-up of models and their application
  • Participation in the land strategy of the project
  • Support in negotiations
  • Notaries key contact
  • Key contact for new land security requests

6. Regulatory matters

  • Referent on regulatory development issues (PV and wind)
  • Review of impact studies, submissions
  • Adaptation of projects (requests to administration)
  • Legal monitoring and training to BU teams
  • Participation in syndicates regulatory meetings
  • Updating the BU about regulatory changes or business changes

PROFILE

1. ACADEMIC LEVEL

Master 2 in public law or in energy law. French Bar qualification.

2. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Required experience in renewables / administrative law and in a law firm (legal advisor with experience of litigations). At least 5 years of practice.

3. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

• Environmental law
• Energy law
• Litigation (administrative and civil procedure)
• Urbanism and town planning

4. LANGUAGES

• French native
• English full proficiency
• Spanish or Portuguese or another EDP group language is a plus

5. SOFT SKILLS

• Hands on / proactive approach
• Rigorous and sense of detail
• Business oriented / willing to make advance the business and to anticipate the needs
• Able to propose riskless, operational and easily applicable solutions
• Professional maturity (ability to exchanges with management and external stakeholders)
