Job Description
The Group Legal Department is currently looking for a Junior IT Legal Counsel, reporting to Forvis Mazars Group Head of Legal.
The Junior IT Legal Counsel will assist the Group Legal Department in handling various technology-related matters and will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and business units to provide guidance and support on legal issues affecting our technology infrastructure, intellectual property, and data privacy.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on technology-related matters, including SaaS, software licensing, cybersecurity, AI regulations, IT consulting agreements, and contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to review and assess technology contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various global agreements (multi-entity, multi-activity, multi-jurisdiction), such as SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and service level agreements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on IT laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the company’s compliance and mitigate potential risks.
- Provide assistance in developing and implementing internal policies, contractual frameworks, and procedures related to IT and ensure alignment with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support the legal team in managing intellectual property matters.
- Stay up to date with emerging legal and regulatory developments in the technology industry, identifying potential impacts on the company’s operations and advising relevant stakeholders accordingly.
- Assist in handling legal disputes, including preparing documentation, coordinating with external counsel, and supporting litigation strategies if necessary.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, and knowledge management systems.
Qualifications
- Qualified legal professional with at least 1-2 years of relevant work experience in a similar function in an (international) legal firm or international association/company.
- Master's degree in law with ideally a specialization in IT law and a background in Belgian or French law. Common law and additional business studies would be a plus.
- Fluency in English and French. International background is highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to take ownership of projects assigned.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, autonomy, rigorousness, self-starter, and result-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work within an international team, eagerness to learn, and attention to detail.
- Adaptability to a rapidly changing work environment and a variety of missions that stimulate a hands-on mentality.
