A post-doctoral research position funded by a prestigious European Research Council Synergy Grant is available immediately in the team of Dr. Salvatore Valitutti at the Cancer Research Center (CRCT) of Toulouse, France. The research is based on a dynamic international collaboration with the University of Oxford (UK), the University of Siena (Italy) and the University of Saarland (Germany). The specific aim of the project is to define the molecular mechanisms of tumor cell resistance to cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) attack at the immunological synapse and to dissect their cell death pathways with the purpose of enhancing CTL efficacy in tumor eradication and improving the efficacy of immunotherapies in cancer patients (Balint et al. Science 2020; Filali et al. Science Advances 2022; McKenzie et al. Trends in Cancer 2023). The research will be performed on clinically relevant samples using latest-generation imaging techniques.
The applicant should have a PhD in immunology or cell biology or biophysics and a solid publication record. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong background in immunology and/or cell biology and is interested in studies related to molecular mechanisms of cytotoxicity at the immunological synapse. Experience with molecular biology methods is desirable as well as excellent capabilities with human primary cell culture and/or strong expertise in imaging techniques.
Specific Requirements:
As the successful applicant will be part of a highly collaborative international team, strong interpersonal skills and English fluency are considered assets.
