The Technical Supervisor Survey (Project Surveyor) is responsible for defining, maintaining, and supporting the subsea surveying activities of the Company to support the delivery of best-in-class crew and fleet performance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day support to field crew including:
- Offering expert-level assistance for Ocean Bottom Nodes (deployed in all water depths by ROVs and AUVs) in the domain of subsea positioning.
- Monitoring of system failure rates and causes associated downtime and performance statistics including issue tracking with suppliers.
- Ensuring field crews have access to necessary equipment and stock levels via the Supply Chain and Operations teams.
- Arranging relevant field engineer and third-party maintenance visits to the vessels.
- Also assisting towed streamer or source seismic vessels as required and as requested by the Technical Manager Survey and Navigation.
- Maintains frequent communication with fleet Chief Surveyors using all appropriate methods.
- Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and data quality for offshore operations.
- Ensures company assets and inventory are maintained and tracked according to company policy.
- Stays up to date with advances in equipment and technology and makes proactive suggestions to improve positioning services.
- Provides support to commercial teams including tender review suggestions for technical exceptions departmental contributions to bid replies and supporting bid submissions as necessary.
- Provides operational support at all stages of the project life cycle including post-award activities, vessel and job mobilization, supervising acquisition, monitoring survey trends, project closeout, demobilization, and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Assists in the planning of departmental tasks in shipyards. Attendance at some shipyards is expected along with other team members depending on the scope of work.
- Contributes to near-term innovation initiatives as well as some involvement with R&D projects.
- EHSQ:
- Is responsible for delivering a Quality service to all internal and external customers.
- Ensures compliance of the PXGEO Management System within their own team.
Supervision of Personnel: No direct reports but collaboration with field engineers and coaching field crews is expected.
Internal Relations: Daily contact with Chief Surveyors. Close coordination with Project Managers and other support departments.
External Relations: Communicate with clients on navigation and positioning issues in support of sales and operations. Liaison with vendors and third-party service providers.
Requirements:
- Detailed knowledge of and extensive experience with surface and subsea positioning operations and equipment. Familiarity with seismic operations is beneficial.
- At least degree level in a suitable surveying or related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Good working knowledge of Navigation and positioning systems (Integrated Navigation Systems, GNSS, Acoustic positioning, Inertial Navigation Systems, Hydrography equipment, Motion sensors, etc.).
- Certification to board vessels offshore.
Other Requirements:
- Commitment to Company’s environmental agenda.
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally sometimes at short notice.
- Visits to vessels mainly dockside but occasionally at sea.
