Having successfully closed a seed round in mid-2024, we are now scaling up towards industrialization. Our ambitious roadmap includes operating our first in-house production facility by early 2027. This marks a pivotal step in scaling our platform to produce bioactive compounds at unprecedented throughput and precision.

Introduction to Generare’s Discovery Workflow

Our discovery process focuses on uncovering novel bioactive compounds from microbial strains isolated from soil samples collected across diverse environments. Using high-throughput sequencing and advanced bioinformatics, biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) are prioritized and localized for their potential to encode drug-like molecules. These BGCs are then expressed in optimized microbial hosts, enabling the isolation of new-to-science natural products. The final step involves characterization and validation of these compounds using mass spectrometry and other state-of-the-art analytical techniques.

Your Role: Head of Industrial Operations

As Head of Industrial Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving the industrial scalability of Generare’s discovery platform. You will oversee the optimization of current production workflows, develop long-term production plans, and design scalable solutions to prepare for multi-site operations. Your dual focus on daily operations and strategic planning will ensure that Generare meets its ambitious growth targets.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Excellence
   • Identify bottlenecks in the current production pipeline and implement innovative solutions to address them
   • Develop, track, and optimize key performance metrics for high-throughput production workflows
   • Streamline and scale operational processes to improve efficiency and reproducibility
2. Annual and Long-Term Production Planning
   • Lead the planning of production activities over annual cycles to align with company objectives
   • Forecast resource needs, set production targets, and ensure delivery milestones are met
   • Collaborate closely with R&D and leadership teams to synchronize discovery efforts and production capacity
3. Industrial Scale-Up and Factory Design
   • Define the technical and operational requirements for Generare’s first in-house production facility, set to launch in 2027
   • Drive the design and planning of a multi-site production model for microbial natural compounds
4. Team Leadership and Management
   • Oversee and inspire a multidisciplinary team spanning microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry, and bioinformatics
   • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ownership across the production pipeline

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a driven, solutions-oriented leader (4+ years experience) with the vision and skills to elevate Generare’s industrial operations to a global standard.

Education: Degree in process engineering or a related field.

Experience: Proven expertise in scaling up industrial processes, ideally gained in the food, cosmetics, or biotech sectors.

Skills:

• Mastery of process optimization techniques and multi-site production management
• Ability to identify and resolve complex production challenges
• Strong skills in resource planning and capacity forecasting

Personal Qualities: Demonstrated leadership, a collaborative spirit, and a strong drive for operational excellence and innovation.
