PURPOSE
The Group CFO is a key strategic leader, responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring robust financial management, and partnering with the CEO to drive business growth. The role requires a strong relationship with local authorities, partners, and banks to maintain financial stability and compliance. For one of our customers, we are looking for a Group CFO role.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Strategic Finance & Business Management
- Partner with the CEO to develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with business objectives.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and business growth strategies.
- Develop and maintain a privileged relationship with local authorities, partners, and financial institutions.
Financial Planning & Control
- Guide the financial team in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Ensure effective treasury and cash flow management, including foreign exchange operations.
- Oversee the control and management of company assets.
- Sign off on all feasibility studies for new business locations and initiatives.
- Ensure strong financial discipline and control, overseeing controllers and reviewing financial reports.
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with internal control and IT systems.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance to minimize financial risk.
Operational Finance & Compliance
- Price and margin management to optimize profitability.
- Monitor financial performance and drive cost optimization initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to international financial reporting standards (IFRS / IAS).
- Supervise financial audits and ensure transparency in financial operations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring recruitment of competent staff.
- Provide structured leadership, coaching, and mentoring to senior finance professionals.
- Ensure HR and line management functions are correctly implemented within the finance team.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full disciplinary responsibility for the Finance organization.
- Accountability for financial results and key processes.
- Ownership of financial reporting and risk management processes.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education & Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience & Industry Knowledge
- At least 10 years of senior management experience in finance or accounting.
- Proven track record in managing a sizable finance team.
- Strong expertise in financial and cost accounting.
- Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or the Oil & Gas industry is a plus.
- Preferably experienced in working in Sub-Saharan Africa.
