360°kids is a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region. We have been a leader in the delivery of innovative support services for more than 35 years as we work to improve the lives of unhoused and marginalized youth and families in York Region. At 360°kids, we provide a unique continuum of care approach with programs and services that are essential to the health and well-being of youth. These proven strategies help to keep youth safe by providing stable housing options with 360° wraparound supports.

The Employment Counsellor, Youth Success Strategy at 360˚kids provides support to youth both within and outside of our employment programs; markets and promotes 360˚kids employment programs and our youth to employers and our communities at large; researches and cold calls employers to obtain job leads and community information; and builds relationships creating access for youth to employment, ensuring successful job matching.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Marketing, outreach, and promotion of Employment Programs to employers and community.
  • Work alongside 360°kids’ staff to ensure job opportunities reflect youth needs, abilities, employment goals, and overall suitability.
  • Assist youth with employment/employability skills including but not limited to: job search skills and interview techniques, resume preparation, career exploration, budgeting, time management, and soft skills such as communication, problem solving and leadership.
  • Research and cold calling to obtain job leads and community information.
  • Relationship building and assessment of youth to ensure successful job matching.
  • Coach and support youth and act as a support to employers.
  • Lead on Employment Mentorship program launch and delivery.
  • Host employment/employability related workshops at 360°kids program locations on a frequent, regular basis as needed.
  • Support community organizations as requested in delivering employability workshops (i.e. YRDSB, York CAS).
  • Ensuring funder database is kept up to date, ensuring participant engagement survey completion as required. Update and maintain youth/program records/activities and case notes.
  • Responsible for ensuring Employment Programs virtual presence is current and engaging. Via agency website and various social media platforms, keeping information up to date and posting on the team’s behalf.
  • Employment Programs team liaison with website developer and agency Resource Development staff for all external virtual outreach needs.
  • Ensure program delivery success while positively contributing to 360°kids as an organization.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable youth (ages 15-30).
  • Knowledge of the job market and the Employment Standards Act.
  • Exceptional relationship building, communication and organization skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Assessment, intake, and case management skills.
  • Motivated, has a strong work ethic, empathetic, and must be able to work with a team.
  • Demonstrated client focused counselling skills and role modelling.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and can be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
  • Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and Broad Records Check.
  • Car, valid “G” driver’s license and insurance with $2MM liability required.
