Postdoctoral position in the field of behavioral neurophysiology

2-year (renewable) position

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with a strong background in the field of behavioral neurophysiology. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and passionate about understanding the brain and will hold a PhD and/or MD degree in neuroscience, biophysics, engineering, medicine, or related topics. A previous experience with in vivo recordings and data analysis is required. Programming skills will be a plus. The postdoctoral fellow will participate in an ongoing project on amygdalar interneurons, with room for the development of a specific project.

The team
The Neural Circuits of Associative Learning team is led by Dr Cyril Herry. Our team is dynamic, international and inclusive, promoting team spirit while supporting individual achievements and career development. Each lab member is offered regular one-to-one meetings and participates in weekly lab meetings and workshops.

The science
Our overarching goal is to dissect the neural circuit operations controlling emotions, motivation, and behavior in health and disease. To achieve this, we integrate a range of cutting-edge expertise including high-density electrophysiological and miniscope recordings, optogenetic, chemogenetic, and pharmacological manipulations in behaving animals, and advanced data analyses. Specific projects include studies of mechanisms underlying anxiety, emotion generalization, as well as goal-directed and addictive behaviors.

The environment
The Institute, Neurocentre Magendie is part of the internationally renowned Bordeaux Neurocampus department at the University of Bordeaux, gathering 700+ people from at least 35 nationalities, sharing the goal to understand brain functioning in normal and pathological conditions. The department offers many opportunities for collaborations, access to core facilities, as well as frequent seminars and workshops. It is located in close proximity to the center of the vibrant city of Bordeaux.

Salary
Depending on previous experience, according to Inserm salary bands: 35-51k€ pa, before taxes. National health insurance is provided. France also offers financial support for childcare.
