Business Unit : Company 3

Position : Finishing Assistant

Location : Toronto, ON (On-Site)

Hours of Operation : 3:00pm – 11:00pm EST

Pay Range : $25.00 - $28.00 CAD hourly

POSITION SUMMARY : The Assistant Editor (Picture Finishing) will be responsible for filling a variety of supporting roles to the colourist / editor. They will assist in the completion of TV / Feature projects from ingest to delivery, learning new processes and maintaining proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends.

MAIN DUTIES :

  1. Colour Support : Help support, colour and display systems that enable colourists to perform efficiently during sessions. This includes colour tracing, VFX inserts, LUT application, and similar tasks. Knowledgeable of various flavours of colour spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ, etc.).
  2. Support Editors : Help support finishing editors by locating and consolidating media, renders, including master deliverables, and QC fixes.
  3. Teamwork : Collaborate and communicate with colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines. Document workflows and help train incoming new hires.
  4. Resource Support : Operate DaVinci Resolve or similar applications, Sony X300, Barco 4K/2K, and video routers.
  5. Quality Assurance : Detail-oriented with application and equipment settings. Thoroughly check all work for errors before content is distributed downstream.
  6. New Technology Support : Help support new processes and maintain proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends.
  7. Quality Control : Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the finishing process.
  8. Customer Service : Drive client supervised sessions, screenings, visual effects reviews, and colour-correction sessions as directed by colourist/editor and/or production management.

WHAT YOU BRING : The ideal candidate will have prior working experience in the media/post-production industry, as well as hands-on operator experience. Excellent organizational skills, an exceptional eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. A professional level of English language skills (written and verbal) is required.

Additional desired skills include a solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, and familiarity with Adobe Premiere, OSD/Transkoder, and Avid.

  1. Capacity and interest to learn new material in a fast-paced, technical professional environment.
  2. Ability to work overtime with little or no notice.
  3. Ability to work on weekends, as necessary.
  4. Ability to work variable shifts, as necessary.
