Mechanical Engineer - 12-months - Life Sciences - Ohio

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Ohio. This is a large-scale greenfield capital project investing more than $1bn.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop comprehensive mechanical design packages for utility systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and regulatory standards.
  2. Prepare and issue detailed scope of work packages for tendering and procurement processes.
  3. Generate and review engineering deliverables, including piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment layouts, utility distribution plans, and system schematics.
  4. Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to determine optimal mechanical solutions for utility systems.
  5. Ensure designs incorporate energy efficiency and sustainability considerations.
  6. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, construction, and procurement, to align project objectives with utility system requirements.
  7. Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and qualification (C&Q) phases of utility systems.
  8. Liaise with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure proper execution of mechanical utility installations.
  9. Act as the primary technical point of contact for all mechanical utility-related queries and issues.
  10. Ensure all utility designs comply with relevant building codes, industry standards (ASHRAE, ASME, ISO), and GMP guidelines where applicable.
  11. Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality control of mechanical deliverables to meet project specifications.
Skills and Requirements:
  1. Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environments.
  2. Familiarity with energy-efficient utility design and sustainable engineering solutions.
  3. Experience with tendering and procurement processes in capital projects.
  4. Knowledge of construction methodologies and site coordination practices.
  5. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  6. Experience with piping and utility system design in pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial facilities.
  7. Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
  8. Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
