The Belmont Public Library is seeking a Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services to join our team. The Coordinator plans, reviews and supervises these two major functional areas of the Library. The work is performed under the direction of the Library Director and Assistant Library Director, and assists the Library Administration in overseeing day-to-day operations.
At the end of 2025, the Town of Belmont expects to open its new Library. One of the first responsibilities of the new Coordinator will be to work with Library Administration to hire 2 full time Technology Librarians to work under their direction. This position offers the chance to join a great staff, with a brand new building around the corner, and to hire new team members.
Responsibilities include acquisition, cataloging, processing and withdrawal of library materials, development and administration of specific budget lines, as well as supervising the technology and technical services staff responsible for managing technology infrastructure and technical services processes. The Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services plans, organizes, assigns and manages the work activities of department staff to achieve department goals. In the absence of Library Administration, the Coordinator may serve as Acting Library Director on a rotating basis or as circumstances dictate. This position serves as the technical liaison to the Minuteman Library Network for technology-related needs.
Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for overseeing server support and routine system maintenance. This position will work with Town and School IT personnel to identify opportunities for collaboration. The Coordinator maintains current knowledge of reference materials, research methods, online databases, and Internet use, and will work on the Reference Desk as part of the professional librarian rotation.
