The position is based at Alstom's headquarters in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, within the Digital Reality department of the Digital Services structure. The role of the VR Architect is to define and support VR systems globally and establish overarching methodologies to meet all business needs of Alstom, helping to improve quality, reduce development/production time, and lower costs.
Missions
- Plan and implement global roadmaps for the evolution/convergence of Alstom’s VR applications.
- Address the needs of various business units (Design & Styling, Engineering, Operations, Systems & Infrastructure, internal and external training) for Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality platforms.
- Manage related development activities (e.g., developing 3D scenes in Unity or Unreal software, scripting in Python for programming VR interactions, or creating scenarios for optimizing 3D data).
- Define methodologies and provide support for VR platforms during project sessions and demonstrations in Saint-Ouen (and occasionally internationally).
- Monitor and control VR systems/software, roadmaps, and the development/deployment of new features using KPIs.
- Lead the creation of methodologies.
- Manage the deployment of use cases or pilot projects at Alstom sites, capturing feedback (ROI, potential improvements, etc.).
- Create promotional materials for VR activities (videos, photos, descriptions of VR capabilities).
- Present the VR domain to business units to promote existing technologies or showcase the latest hardware/software advancements and gather their feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather all VR needs from Alstom's business units.
- Develop VR applications and features aligned with identified needs.
- Draft and deploy global VR methodologies.
- Master the use of all VR systems and provide demonstrations/training as necessary.
- Drive overall improvements in VR usage (focused on profitability for Alstom) through benchmarks (with other industries), use cases, pilot sites, etc.
Profile
- Engineering degree or Bachelor of Engineering with specific training in virtual reality.
- A Master's in innovation, design, or engineering is a plus.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the following areas:
- Virtual and augmented reality (development or integration).
- Design and architecture of information systems.
- Management of complex technical projects is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of information system architectures.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and VR/AR tools, such as:
- Unity, Unreal Engine.
- PiXYZ, VRED (or equivalents).
- Good understanding of cloud technologies and collaborative platforms for managing immersive content, as well as familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent command of English and French, both written and spoken.
- Any additional European language is a plus.
