Purpose of Consultancy:

The WHO Academy will deliver advanced digital and in-person learning to health policy practitioners, health workers, and the WHO workforce. The Academy will organize a series of masterclasses for senior managers in the organization, recognizing that the success of the organization relies heavily on the capabilities and competencies of its leadership cadre. This includes strengthening the WHO leadership team’s capacity to facilitate and mediate conversations, manage difficult conversations, and lead with empathy. The program targets around 255 WHO Representatives and D1-2 Directors in regional offices and headquarters.

Background:

The World Health Organization's Academy (‘The Academy') is a new state-of-the-art learning institution aiming to revolutionize lifelong learning for health impact. Based in Lyon, France, the Academy Campus will offer a wide range of learning modalities, including digital, in-person, and blended learning. The overall goal of the Academy is to advance the learning and human development component of WHO's General Programme of Work and health sustainable development goals.

Objectives:

1. Masterclass, Assessments, Capstone Projects, and Seminar Delivery:

Deliver tailored masterclasses for high-level senior leaders.

1. Collaborate to define and adapt the modality of each session to suit local needs.
2. Facilitate and moderate sessions, including one seminar at the Academy premises.

Develop comprehensive guidelines and process documentation for the Leadership Excellence training program.

1. Provide a gap analysis report with actionable recommendations for program improvement.

Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement:

1. Serve as the focal point for WHO Academy, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of training programs.
2. Adapt and tailor program content on leadership diplomacy for senior leaders.
3. Build and foster a network for ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Languages:

Educational Qualifications:

1. University degree in business administration, education, social sciences, public health, or a related field.

Experience:

1. At least 5 years of relevant experience in:

1. Training design, learning delivery, or implementation in an international or health-focused organization.
2. Senior leadership or management roles.
3. Leadership learning and organizing events for senior management.
4. Experience in agile management and project management.
5. Experience in needs assessment and capacity building.

Skills / Knowledge:

1. Strong ability in facilitation of high-level events.
2. Strong organizational skills.
3. Proven competency in leadership training.

Languages:

1. Expert knowledge of English.
2. Intermediate knowledge of French.

Offsite: Home-based

Travel: The consultant is expected to travel.

Remuneration:

Band level B: USD 7,000 - 9,980 per month
