Description du poste

Mechanoepigenetic regulation of vascular smooth muscle cells in vascular diseases

Work place: UMR_S 1116 (DCAC, Nancy, France)

Contact: Véronique Regnault (veronique.regnault@inserm.fr; 33 6 26 09 12 08), Patrick Lacolley (patrick.lacolley@inserm.fr), Magnus Bäck (magnus.back@inserm.fr)

A postdoctoral position (2 years) is available in the research group led by Veronique Regnault in the Acute and Chronic Cardiovascular Deficiency (DCAC) Inserm-Université de Lorraine unit in Nancy to work on mechanoepigenetic regulation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) in vascular diseases. We want to elucidate how oxidative stress impacts the mechanobiological functions of VSMCs in atherosclerosis, thrombotic diseases and aging. The team is especially interested in studying the molecular, epigenetic and pathophysiological mechanisms leading to alterations of mechanobiological and metabolic functions of VSMCs.

A multi-disciplinary approach involving biochemical, biophysical and cellular experiments will be used to address these questions. The ultimate goal of the project is to advance our understanding of mechanical memory through epigenetic remodeling of the vascular wall.

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher (m/f) with strong expertise in epigenetics, excited by clinical translational challenges and proven ability to work independently.

Main missions:

  1. Implementation of the project in connection with the research lab and associated clinical departments
  2. Performing functional studies in cellular systems with a focus on vascular smooth muscle cells
  3. Implementation, adaptation and coordination of molecular biology techniques
  4. Apply for grant calls and communicate results inside and outside the laboratory (European network, national and international conferences)

Diploma, required qualifications and skills:

  1. PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology or Immunology
  2. Mastery of in vitro cell culture techniques and excellent knowledge of molecular biology tools
  3. Knowledge in spatial organization of chromatin or chromatin architecture
  4. Familiarity with biophysical techniques such as traction force microscopy is a merit
  5. Interest in innovation, technology development and translational research
  6. Knowledge of written and spoken English is a requirement
  7. Basic knowledge in bioinformatics is an advantage but not a requirement
  8. Rigor, methodology and organization, dynamism, autonomy and critical sense

This position may lead to a submission to the Université de Lorraine or the Inserm national competition for a permanent position.
