Adoc Talent Management is looking for a chemical ecology researcher specializing in whitefly insects (M / F) for its client, an innovative impact SME focused on the development of sustainable biocontrol solutions. Capitalizing on research into the relationships between crop pests and plants, our customer has developed unique, cutting-edge solutions based on Kairomone and Allomone, enabling significant reductions in the use of phytosanitary products on crops, while preserving biodiversity. On the strength of this first class of solutions, and thanks to a major fund-raising campaign, the company aims to extend the range of insects and crops treated.

Position

Working in the R&D department under the supervision of the co-founder, you will be in charge of building and managing a research and development project. The aim will be to formulate a biocontrol product designed to regulate whitefly populations in greenhouses and outdoors.

You will have the opportunity to start this project from scratch. During the initial phases, your role will be mainly focused on structuring the project, including setting up academic and private collaborations, and seeking funding. It will be essential to conduct a strategic and bibliographic watch, while targeting and establishing collaborations with experts in the field worldwide, and identifying target market opportunities to focus on.

On the experimental front, you will set up and run behavioral tests to analyze interactions between odors and insect behavior, while organizing insect and plant production in close coordination with other departments. Writing up laboratory results and preliminary field trials will also form an important part of your role.

A crucial part of your responsibilities will be to analyze data statistically and write summaries to enrich the database, taking into account test results. Finally, to succeed in this role, it is essential to have a keen awareness of the issues involved in approvals and industrialization.

This position, offering real versatility in its missions, is to be filled on a permanent contract in Rennes, as soon as possible.

Profile

With a PhD specialized in chemical ecology, entomology, agronomy or a related field, you have a diversified experience acquired in several research laboratories in France and / or abroad. This experience has enabled you to familiarize yourself with different working methods. You have recognized expertise in entomology, particularly in the study of the behavior of biting-sucking insects of the whitefly family (Aleyrodidae) and their impact on crops. You have a good knowledge of the research environment in this field and a willingness to build collaborations. You have proven experience in project management, as well as in the design and implementation of experimental programs.

A solid competence in the use of olfactometers is required. Knowledge of allelochemistry, semiochemistry, kairomones and allomones would be appreciated. Experience in analytical chemistry and electrophysiology would be a plus. In-depth knowledge of plants and volatile organic compound-based repellents (VOC Repellent) are assets.

Fluency in French is not required, but a willingness to learn the language is appreciated, while fluency in English is essential.
