Senior Modular Design Expert – Industrial Assets (Freelance Consultant)
Do Well Do Good, a strategic consulting firm advising industrial clients is seeking a Senior Expert in Modular Design of Complex Industrial Assets to support our teams and clients in deepening their understanding of modular construction techniques and the orchestration of multi-stakeholder projects.
This expert will play a key role in advising our consultants on the technical and organizational principles of modular design applied to industrial contexts, with a focus on ensuring seamless coordination between diverse partners such as engineering firms, construction specialists, and system integrators.
This is a remote, flexible engagement, ideal for experienced professionals seeking high-level, ad hoc collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Advisory & Knowledge Transfer
- Guide consulting teams in understanding advanced modular design methodologies applied to industrial infrastructures.
- Clarify the technical, operational, and logistical constraints inherent to modular projects across design, fabrication, and assembly phases.
- Workshop Facilitation
- Lead targeted working sessions ("deep-dive workshops") with the Do Well Do Good team to explore specific topics such as:
- Interfaces between design and construction phases.
- Optimization of module breakdown structures.
- Best practices for coordinating specialized partners across the project lifecycle.
- Risk management and mitigation strategies in modular projects.
- Project Structuring Insights
- Advise on the governance, roles, and responsibilities of various stakeholders involved in modular industrial projects.
- Support the development of frameworks for project planning and execution that align with modular construction principles.
- On-Demand Expertise
- Provide strategic input on a variety of modularization-related challenges as they arise during project development phases.
Profile
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in modular design of complex industrial assets (energy, infrastructure, transport, manufacturing, etc.). Prior experience within large EPC contractor value.
- Demonstrated ability to manage or advise multi-partner modular projects involving engineering, construction, and integration actors.
- Experience in sectors such as Oil & Gas, energy (thermal power plants, nuclear), or the chemical industry is highly valued.
Skills
- Deep technical knowledge of modularization principles, including design for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA).
- Understanding of industrial project workflows and lifecycle management.
- Strong communication and facilitation abilities to convey complex technical concepts to non-specialists.
- Previous experience in collaborative, workshop-based environments.
Other
- Fluent in English.
- Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams.
- Availability for periodic, pre-scheduled workshops and follow-up discussions (European timezones).
