Contract : Permanent Contract

Your missions :

As the Commodity Analyst, you will be in charge of analysis for specialized Starch and Sweeteners markets (starches, proteins, polyols, glucose, maltodextrins, dextrose, etc.). The scope of analysis covers global fundamental research for key category products for Tereos for all elements that may impact the supply/demand and the pricing/arbitrages.

To achieve the best-in-class intelligence, you will collaborate with a wide array of colleagues in the commercial and market intelligence departments and oversee building and improving our models for SnD and pricing scenarios. Those models are an essential tool for our commercial functions to inform and drive decision making.

Main Duties

  • Lead and improve our intelligence process and models with the objective of guaranteeing highest quality analysis used for critical decision making.
  • Develop and improve models to measure and estimate the impact of each market driver on Supply and Demand (ex.: prices, macroeconomic perspective, demographics, industrial and consumer demand, arbitrages vs supply availability, global and EU competitiveness, etc.).
  • Build weekly communications affecting the starch and sweeteners markets. Raise and explain the risk flags that could change the market trends.
  • Be in touch with the commercial functions in Europe and around the world, exchanging any market insight that could impact our business.
  • Ability to challenge forecasts/models (independent and critical view is required).

Management and Collaboration

  • You will be reporting directly to the Head of Research in Tereos HQ.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork in a matrix setup, with key stakeholders within the commercial and market intelligence teams. Becoming the link between Fundamentals Research and other functions.
  • Liaise with other research team leads on grains, sugar and ethanol to ensure coordination on key market drivers. Collaborate on correlated markets, processes, models, etc.
  • Provide ideas for new data, technology and innovation to strengthen analysis within the Market Research and Intelligence teams.
  • Train new members of the team. Actively participate in the development of their skills and regularly share experiences and knowledge with the team.

Other responsibilities

  • Guarantee the proper update and quality check of our databases.
  • Manage agreements with information providers ensuring access to key external data and insights.
  • Travel for internal and external events to represent Tereos Research at industry events as and when necessary.

Your profile :

  • University degree in Agronomy, Economics, Engineering, Finance.
  • Experience in commodity research and/or starch and sweeteners intelligence: 5 years minimum. Well versed in Starch and Sweeteners industrial processes.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Top Excel. Power BI and Python are a plus.
