The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:

CAREER ADVISOR

Competition Code: 2503 102B May 5

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Employment Services Manager, the Career Advisor will be responsible for:

  1. Providing career and employment-related guidance, career development assistance, and labour market information to Métis individuals.
  2. Providing follow-up assistance to individuals.
  3. Maintaining the computerized client database information and initiating follow-up reports.
  4. Managing a high caseload of clients.
  5. Liaising with business and industry.
  6. Partnership development.
  7. Efficient and effective application of programs and services.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Travel is a requirement of the position.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. A relevant Bachelor’s Degree combined with related work experience or equivalent educational qualifications and work experience.
  2. A minimum of two years experience in the delivery of services in training and/or employment.
  3. Highly effective administrative skills.
  4. The ability to prioritize caseloads/deadlines and manage time effectively.
  5. A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff and other agencies.
  6. Extensive understanding of Métis culture and the employment and training needs of the Métis.
  7. An excellent understanding of labour market issues and trends within Saskatchewan.
  8. A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle to facilitate any required travel within the Region/Province.

Term:

June 2025 to March 31, 2029 (subject to successful completion of six month probationary period)

Remuneration:

GDI Career Advisor 2 wage grid and Benefits Package
