This position seats in GLI-Clinical & Product Evaluation team (CaPE), based in Creteil and reports to the local team manager. We are looking for an experienced professional in data analysis, statistics and data management, able to work with different expertise as part of a global team, on diverse topics (clinical studies, consumer insights, digital solutions) and in a changing environment.

The CaPE team assess products to validate them or to provide claim substantiation through studies with humans. To guarantee valid conclusions and interpretations, the studies must incorporate the right statistical approach.

Your role

The biostatistician will be in charge of providing this approach to the research conducted by the team in France, internationally (mainly Asia) and support statistical needs from other GLI teams.

The studies where the Data Analyst will provide his/her expertise can be the following:

  • Comparative double blinded studies for new product evaluation: for example, new generation of lenses,
  • Longitudinal clinical studies for new benefits evaluation,
  • Group of previous studies (meta-analysis)
  • More fundamental research (human perception understanding).
  • The person will also help the team with upgrading the data collection and exploitation methodologies.

Main responsibilities:

  • Set up the data and statistical approach at the launch of a new study
    • Collaborate with study managers to understand research questions, participate to the protocol definition, establish a proper Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP), achieve power analysis
    • Work closely with study managers and clinical study quality assurance team during the preparation and the execution of human studies, by establishing processes around data monitoring, preparation and analysis.
  • Manage and analyze structured and unstructured data
    • Lead the data analysis of each study and present the results together with the study manager.
    • Propose and develop relevant data analysis and visualizations (e.g. profiling and segmentation)
  • Develop models and propose way to capture relevant data
    • Structure and analyze existing data sets to provide insights and continuous improvement axes
    • Propose and implement processes and tools for consumers insights detection and capitalization
    • Figure out what questions are being asked and if those questions can be answered by data.
    • Propose and run specific activities to collect pre-determined set of data
    • Capitalize on existing digital solutions and smart devices
  • Support other R&D teams
    • Liaise with data community members, in R&D and in other departments
    • Provide support and advice on specific studies

Main requirements:

  • Educational Background such as Master in Statistics, Biostatistics, Scientific Data Analysis. PhD level would be appreciated.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a data analyst or biostatistician role
  • Very high level of skills in statistics applied to product validation (clinical trials, quality analysis...)
  • Rigorous: high capacity to manage, structure and ensure quality of data processing
  • Scientific curiosity – appeal for innovation in the ophthalmic field, for managing data from different fields (human perception, optics, consumer satisfaction...)
  • Communication: able to convey knowledge to teammates and convince stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills in English (French is a plus)
