We are seeking an Autonomy Software Engineer with a strong background in algorithm development to join our growing and dynamic team. As an Autonomy Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of autonomy pipelines for space mission operations, focusing on automated planning and scheduling of spacecraft activities. In AIKO, we want satellites to be intelligent and autonomous, taking real-time decisions to boost mission return.

You will play a crucial part in ensuring that our development teams harness the power of advanced algorithms for transformative solutions. Your role will contribute to constant improvements in algorithmic efficiency, computational methodologies, and overall technological innovation.

Experience in the aerospace field is not required, although familiarity with space systems and space mission operations is beneficial. We value smart, motivated, and collaborative engineers who are passionate about space exploration, problem-solving, and pushing technological boundaries.

Tasks

  • Designing and developing scalable and effective algorithms for automated planning and scheduling of spacecraft operations.
  • Continuously prototyping, optimizing, troubleshooting, and debugging algorithmic solutions based on user feedback and evolving business needs.
  • Generate detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation for various stakeholders, contributing to reviews and project milestones.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes, emphasizing technical excellence and adherence to deadlines.
  • Strive for continuous learning and personal development across technical and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in developing complex algorithms, preferably for automated planning and scheduling - such as temporal planning, hierarchical planning, and forward/backward chaining.
  • Proven experience in operations research methods - such as mathematical optimization, graph theory, and stochastic dynamic programming.
  • In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithmic complexity, and code optimization techniques.
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Rust, with a strong focus on algorithmic development.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a strong commitment to goals, quality, and a positive attitude toward growth and change.

Preferred Experience

  • Understanding of satellite systems and space mission operations.
  • Experience in developing algorithms for applications with limited computational power - such as in the space field, robotics, or embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, with a strong focus on algorithmic development.
  • Familiarity with machine learning solutions for planning and decision-making, including deep and reinforcement learning.
  • Track record in key technical or lead roles in R&D projects, particularly in innovative technology environments.
  • Familiarity with Scrum working methodology and Agile principles, demonstrating an ability to work efficiently within iterative and collaborative development processes.

Benefits

  • Electronic restaurant tickets
  • Health insurance with 50% of the cost paid by the company
  • Flexible working hours, and remote working is available.
