Located in the heart of the old town of Vallauris, A.I.R. Vallauris (Artists in Residence) welcomes international artists from all horizons to meet and collaborate with local artists and to research and create new work in an artistic laboratory created specifically for them. Now in its 24th season, A.I.R. Vallauris has welcomed over 500 international artists since its conception in 2001.

The Association has three primary objectives:

1. The hosting of resident artists
2. The support of contemporary creation
3. Education in the field of ceramics
4. The organization of cultural events

In order to support and achieve these objectives, the activities of the association are focused and grouped into the following programs: Residency, Exhibition, Education, Publication, and Events. Different projects are defined within these programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The candidate will be involved in all aspects of this international artist residency from start to finish including day-to-day support and logistics and the organisation of the group exhibition. Additional roles and responsibilities of the candidate are in relation with the different projects within the A.I.R. Vallauris programs and according to project priorities.

Residency Program
A.I.R. Vallauris welcomes applications to the artist residency program throughout the year. These applications are processed and candidates are selected in terms of quality of work, suitability of the project to infrastructure of A.I.R. Vallauris and scheduling constraints. The candidate will respond to queries about the residency program by email and also promote the program internationally to attract candidates. Applications will be processed for review by the jury, and residencies will be scheduled and confirmed with the artists. The candidate will also assist in the preparation of facilities for artists, the welcoming and orientation of artists to the center and the support of artists with day-to-day queries regarding logistics.

Exhibition Program
Throughout the year, A.I.R. Vallauris organizes several exhibitions in its two galleries “Aqui Siam Ben” and other venues such as the 16th Century Chapelle de la Miséricorde. The works of resident artists are exhibited at the end of each residency term. Group exhibitions of former residents are also organized in the gallery. A.I.R. Vallauris also exhibits these works throughout the region. International exhibitions are organized with prestigious partners annually. The candidate will be involved in the definition of the exhibition schedules for the 2025/2026 season and promote this program to an international audience, as well as coordinate and manage the requirements of exhibiting artists. The candidate will also work to promote and generate sales in the gallery and online on our two websites.

Educational Program
A.I.R. Vallauris organizes workshops with its resident artists as well as with invited international artists. The candidate will assist in promoting our program to an international audience.

1. BAC +3 / Bac +4 / Maitrise
2. High level of English and French languages. Additional languages are an asset
3. Computer skills: internet, MS Word, Excel, Photoshop, inDesign, wordpress
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Interest in Art and other cultures.
