In light of the important retailing transformation happening in Airlines and the various massive projects starting (Nevio, vNext, DMX, …), there is a crucial need for governance on our data.

With the promise to your customers about openness and modularity, data and the definition of their interfaces are becoming even more critical.

We are at the beginning of the journey on Nevio, vNext, and DMX, so we must have efficient data governance for our airline customers to build efficient end-to-end solutions.

Towards the vision of an Amadeus-wide federated governance, a new governance in the business area Airline has been initiated this year, working on Nevio data models to start with.

Your Main Responsibilities

Summary

The main mission of this job position is Airline Solutions R&D Data Officer (RDO).

The Airline Solutions R&D Data Officer is responsible for ensuring the normalization, standardization, and governance of all data assets (including Events, Big Data, APIs, and data models) within the Airline Solutions organization, especially on Nevio where the demand is very high.

On top of this mission, the job position includes being the representative of the governance at the Airline Area level, ensuring the consistency between the different data domains belonging to the Airline Area, across the line organizations involved in the Nevio program.

Description

The R&D Data Officer plays a central role in bridging the technical requirements of R&D with the overarching data governance policies of the Amadeus Data Office (ADO), ensuring the implementation of data strategies, policies, and standards that align with the ADO’s broader data governance framework. The R&D Data Officer ensures the technical integrity, security, and quality of data assets while facilitating collaboration across different business lines within the Data & Interface Governance (DIG) structure.

This role is key to ensuring compliance with standards on data management and preventing data friction and misuse between domains within Airline Solutions.

Data and APIs are essential for the new capabilities of Nevio, with domain-driven architecture design principles.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

Airline Area Governance:

  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Business Data Officers (BDO) in Airline Solutions and Airport & Airline Operations to align technical and business needs.
    • Serve as the primary technical liaison for data management within Airline Solutions.
    • Collaborate with Navitaire and Airport & Airline Operations R&D Data Officers to ensure consistency for airline customers in the data models and APIs.

Data Asset Governance:

  • Coordinate the governance of all data assets for the Airline Area.
  • Execute locally the policies, guidelines, and ways of working agreed at the Data & Interface Governance (DIG) level.
  • Ensure that R&D technical guidelines and standards (e.g., Open Data) are implemented and monitored for compliance.
  • Responsible for the normalization and standardization of the Amadeus data assets (Events, Big Data, APIs, and data models) for Airlines Solutions Engineering.
  • Coordinate the adoption of the data domain hierarchy and contribute to the development of logical data models.
  • Manage and maintain the technical documentation, including data interface specifications.

Leadership:

  • Support the business and engineering data officers of Airline Solutions business domains (Offer, Order, and TTX) to advocate for/present/explain the process towards the delivery organization and how it fits into a more global governance and a catalog of shared assets.

Innovation:

  • Improve the governance setup up to the management of all data in Airline Solutions, from the content to the conceptual and logical models.
  • Encourage the adoption of new technologies and practices to improve data management and usage.

Data & Interface Governance (DIG):

  • Cross-Organizational Alignment:

    • Interact with other R&D Data Officers across different business lines to represent the organization in making decisions on Global Rules.
    • Share/Present proposals for Global Data Model modifications for Events, Big Data, APIs, and data models (Conceptual/Logical).
    • Validate proposals for Global Data Model modifications for Events, Big Data, APIs, and data models (Logical/Physical layer).
    • Register physical models created in the Local Data governance.
    • Identify Data Families and common Data Models.
    • Contribute to the Conceptual data model and own the Logical data model (Conceptual Data model is owned by ADO).
    • Oversee the governance of data families, coordinating on standards, guidelines, and best practices across business lines.

General:

  • Training & Education:

    • Provide ongoing training for R&D teams on the technical guidelines, governance standards, and best practices for data management.
    • Increase awareness within the R&D organization about the importance of data governance, privacy, and security, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting & Performance Monitoring:

    • Monitor the performance of R&D data assets and data governance practices, ensuring compliance with ADO performance metrics.
    • Regularly report on the technical status of data models, data quality, and adherence to governance policies.
    • Provide feedback loops to the BDO and ADO on the technical performance of data assets and any necessary improvements.
