How can you make a difference?

The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF's Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through innovative technology-enabled solutions.

Operationalizing the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI / ML) in UNICEF is both a strategic and tactical undertaking requiring seniority and depth of subject matter expertise. Reporting to the ICTD Deputy Director, Strategy, Resource Management and Governance, the Chief, AI is the strategic resource who leads in the determination of AI/ML use case applicability, implementation approaches and deployment topologies. By working with Divisional subject matter experts and ICTD Business Relationship Managers, they unlock possibilities for the implementation of AI/ML use cases providing in-depth technical guidance, advisories and hands-on AI/ML expertise.

Minimum requirements

  1. Education: Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science or other related fields.
  2. Work Experience: 10+ years of experience in business analysis, with a focus on translating complex business problems into technical requirements including for AI/ML implementation.
  3. Demonstrable knowledge and hands-on expertise in AI and ML concepts, including deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.
  4. Demonstrable expertise in designing AI/ML systems.
  5. Experience applying AI in the resolution and optimization of business processes and inference.
  6. Experience in AI development and deployment tools, language models and platforms.
  7. Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  8. Extensive experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  9. Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.

Desirables
  1. Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
