We are seeking a Group Benefits Administrator, who will be responsible for the management and administration of employee group benefits programs within the organization. The role will involve overseeing enrollment, changes, and terminations of benefits, as well as serving as a liaison between employees, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders. The candidate will ensure compliance with benefit plan regulations, support employees with benefit inquiries, and facilitate communication related to group benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer all aspects of group benefits programs.
- Manage the enrollment process for new hires, qualifying events, and open enrollment periods, ensuring accurate and timely processing of benefit elections and changes.
- Communicate group benefits options, changes, and updates to employees through various channels, including employee meetings, email communications, and online portals.
- Provide guidance and assistance to employees regarding benefit options, eligibility criteria, coverage details, and enrollment procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefit vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers and providers to resolve issues, facilitate claims processing, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing group benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
- Prepare and distribute required benefit notices, disclosures, and reports to employees and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employee benefits elections, changes, and terminations in the HRIS or benefits administration system.
- Generate reports and analyze data to monitor benefit utilization, costs, and trends.
- Provide responsive and customer-focused support to employees regarding benefit inquiries, claims issues, and coverage questions.
- Conduct employee education sessions and workshops to promote awareness of available benefits and encourage participation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of benefit policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Document benefit processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or related roles, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Thorough understanding of group benefits programs, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in benefits administration software, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial transactions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with vendors and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit / stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee will be regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, including a phone, copier, and printer. The employee may occasionally be required to move about the office to accomplish tasks; reach in any direction; raise or lower objects, move objects from place to place, hold onto objects, and move or exert force up to forty (40) pounds.
