Yes, we know the difference between them but here at Netquest we do DevOps and we have a Platforms Team composed of SREs with different backgrounds. We do have an Error Budget, we monitor the Four Golden Signals, we care about observability and we have moved our first steps into Chaos Engineering years ago. We’re also aware we’re not Google or Netflix, etc. so we adapt SRE, SAFe and Agile to our own needs,

always genuinely trying to walk the talk. We are now looking for a talented systems engineer to help our Platform team in its mission of supporting the Meter Technologies Team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer.

New stuff leverages Kubernetes and all the AWS services that meet our needs. Your Profile

Our “unicorn” definition of senior systems engineer comprehends:

1. Advanced Linux knowledge and experience with containerization technologies;
2. Production experience with AWS and CloudFormation;
3. Python or Go coding skills;
4. Clear understanding of modern distributed systems architectures;
5. Exposition to monitoring, log aggregation and alerting tools (ElasticSearch / Fluentd / Prometheus / OpsGenie);
6. Enabling self-service deployments through continuous delivery pipelines;
7. Understanding of IT Security topics such as Penetration Testing, XSS, SQLi;
8. Willingness to share experiences and learn new stuff every day.

...Bonus points if you:

1. Have production experience with Terraform or Kubernetes;
2. Are fluent in modern day architecture paradigms like microservices and serverless;
3. Have been exposed to AWS Billing;
4. Strive to automate everything and to get rid of TOIL;
5. Know the difference between observability and monitoring;
6. Have been on-call for an internet exposed, production environment.
