Hispasat, as part of the SpaceRISE consortium, is responsible for the technical implementation and ensuring the success of the IRIS² project, leveraging its extensive experience in satellite communications. This collaboration is essential to provide secure and reliable high-performance communication solutions to the European Union and its member states.
To be part of this project, we are looking for a System Engineer whose responsibilities will be as follows:
Activities:
- Support to the definition, design, development and oversight of a telecommunications satellite constellation program in the area of System Engineering.
- Support to the definition, design and development of telecommunications systems based on satellite technology.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of the Satellite and Launch Services Request for Proposal (RFP) and the associated technical evaluation.
- Support to the coordination and participation in the technical contractual negotiations for Satellite and Launch Service Procurements.
- Coordination of the satellite design, manufacturing, integration and testing oversight activities.
- Coordination, preparation and participation in unit design, manufacturing and testing review meetings.
- Coordination, preparation and participation in subsystem design, manufacturing and testing review meetings.
- Coordination, preparation and participation in system design, manufacturing and testing review meetings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to meet milestones and deliverables.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
- Coordination, preparation and participation in the launch campaign and LEOP.
- Coordination, preparation and participation in the In Orbit Test Campaign.
- Support to the on-orbit satellite health status assessment and coordination of anomaly investigation.
- Preparation of weekly reports of activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar.
- 10-year experience on a similar position with hands-on experience or exposure in either payload procurement, payload equipment manufacturing or payload in-orbit operations in GEO and/or LEO.
- Experience in managing large EU and ESA projects.
- Experience with satellite ground station operations and network management.
- Programming languages skills (Python, Matlab or similar).
Knowledge:
Knowledge in geostationary and LEO communication system architectures and functional operations, covering several of the following aspects:
- Demonstrated knowledge of satellite equipment and subsystems technologies (Payload and Platform).
- Demonstrated knowledge of satellite system related activities (e.g.: satellite architecture and dimensioning, system budgets, telecommunications analysis).
- Demonstrated knowledge of satellite launch services.
- Demonstrated skills in the area of equipment and subsystem manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing (Payload and Platform).
- Demonstrated skills in the area of satellite manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing.
- Demonstrated skills in the area of satellite launch campaigns and LEOP.
- Demonstrated skills in the area of Satellite In Orbit Testing (Payload and Platform).
