Structural Engineer/Analyst

Holtec International, a turnkey supplier of technologies for the nuclear and fossil power industries, is seeking to add a Structural Engineer. The analyst would be called upon to analyze metallic, reinforced concrete and soil-subgrade supported structures.

*Candidate must be located or willing to commute in Madrid office on a regular basis.

Typical analyses include:

1. Static and dynamic finite element modeling and analyses (FEA) using ANSYS
2. Drop and impact (e.g., missile and aircraft) analyses and target response using LS-DYNA
3. Simulation of the seismic response of freestanding structures in air or submerged in water
4. Static and dynamic analyses of large reinforced concrete structures
5. Soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses with freestanding and/or anchored structures
6. Beam and plate stress calculations using established principles of strength of materials

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Applicant must possess a BS in mechanical/civil/structural engineering with a minimum of 4 years of experience. MS will count for 2 years of experience and Ph.D. will count for 4 years of experience (experience from MS and Ph.D. cannot be combined)
2. Familiarity with standard industry and design codes/manuals such as ASME, ASCE, ACI and AISC
3. Must possess excellent credentials in principles of solid mechanics
4. Must possess excellent technical writing and communication skills

DESIRED SKILLS:

1. Academic or industrial experience in the latest stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, STAAD.Pro and GT STRUDL
2. Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities
