We are currently looking for a Senior Trading Accountant based in MADRID.
Mission:
As a Senior Accounting Analyst, these will be the main objectives:
- In accordance with the relevant accounting rules (IFRS & local GAAP), ensure proper accounting, recording of transactions, and reporting segregation within the Engie España legal entity.
- Elaborate monthly reporting to ENGIE headquarters under specific tool (SAP Business Planning and Consolidation) and IFRS rules.
- Prepare annual accounts and financial statements under local GAAP and assist external auditors.
- Provide financial inquiries or other information to public administrations to control and assure proper accounting for fixed assets, income tax, provisions, operating expenses, etc.
- Supervise and manage the team in charge (2 people) & report to the Accounting and Consolidation Manager.
- Review accounting results of the portfolio, balance sheet analysis, and Cash Flows together with the ENGIE ESPAÑA controlling team.
- Help provide timely, accurate, validated, and relevant information and business reporting on MtM impacts.
- Support in the accounting definition of monthly closing and forecast of the End of Year Results of all Energy Management operations together with GEMS Middle Office and Finance team.
- Ensure that appropriate administrative procedures, indicators, limits, processes, and reporting are in place and respected in GEMs activities.
Key skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- 5 years or more of experience in Finance roles.
- Strong knowledge in the accounting of trading operations (financial and physical derivatives) and the corresponding accounting standards applicable, mainly IFRS 9, IFRS 13 (and the respective Local GAAP-PGC articles).
- Good understanding of the Spanish Energy Markets, its players (OMIE, MIBGAS, REE, etc.) and Central Clearing Counterparties (OMICLEAR, BME Clearing); work experience in the energy management and trading sector is an asset.
- Knowledge of Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems (ideally Meteor and Orchestrade) is a plus.
- Relevant professional experience in the energy industry and/or trading sector.
- Analytical and quantitative skills, combined with a hands-on approach.
- Eager to work in a team, sharing information with different departments and in high coordination with front and middle office.
- Good knowledge of office tools like Excel and an interest in information systems used (e.g., SAP-FI, ETRM systems, SAP Business Planning and Consolidation).
- Well organized, pro-active, and able to perform during specific reporting cycles with tight deadlines.
- Assertive, inquisitive, and stress-resistant with a high level of integrity.
- Project management skills with the ability to plan and coordinate with various teams.
- Demonstrate a pragmatic and logical attitude combined with problem-solving skills.
- Eager to learn, tenacious, with a strong business drive; a real team player able to transfer knowledge and coordinate inputs/actions of various units.
- Domain expertise on derivatives financial instruments under IFRS rules and local GAAP.
- Fluent in English (oral/written) and Spanish (oral/written).
