Senior Software Engineer, Key, Madrid

The Amazon Key team is inventing and implementing pioneering initiatives for Amazon deliveries and services within Ring. We are focused on enhancing customer experience through next generation technologies, and are seeking an exceptional, entrepreneurial full-stack Sr. Software Development Engineer to help drive this mission.

This year we are growing our team to support web development for several greenfield projects and internal tools. We code a lot in TypeScript (React.js, Next.js) on the frontend and middleware/backend, as well as Java on the backend. The role will involve mentoring team members, guiding the team's architecture and use of AI/ML and stepping into work on backend services as needed.

Key job responsibilities

1. Translating product requirements for our web applications into well-designed, well-documented, and well-maintained front-end code.
2. Our tech stacks include mostly native AWS services, using AWS CDK, Next.js, and React.js single-page applications. We operate several web views inside other native apps.
3. We may be asked to help with some away-team work with other Amazon teams both inside Amazon and external e.g., within the AMZL/LMTech or Delivery and Recipient Experience (DEX, REX) teams.

A day in the life

We have three-times-a-week standups and two-week sprints.

Our internal stakeholders include:

• Product managers within the Key organization
• Other SDEs, QAEs, SDMs, BIE and marketers, using our tools to troubleshoot and understand any challenges facing our customers.

Our external stakeholders include:

• The growing Key, Ring and Amazon customers found in the myQ, Key, Ring, and Amazon-wide apps and websites.

Our web development is mostly focused on React.js and Typescript projects. While our backend development is usually in Coral or Horizonte services. Additionally, we work on web tools that support our team and other partner Amazon Key teams.

About the team

The Amazon Key team supports millions of secure in-garage deliveries. Our plans include other products and enhancements around secure delivery.

Key Frontend focuses on outstanding customer and partner experience. We are a large, cohesive and distributed team.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
• Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
• Experience in professional, non-internship software development
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Experience in development in the last 3 years
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
