Senior Java Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled Tech Lead Java Developer to join our team and contribute to the development of the SITA OptiFlight project. You will lead the migration of our legacy Java application to Spring Boot, modernizing its architecture for improved scalability and performance. The innovative OptiFlight project aims to enhance the sustainability of the aeronautical industry. OptiFlight is an ambitious initiative designed to revolutionize the digital day of operations for aircraft.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead the migration of our legacy Java application to Spring Boot, modernizing its architecture for improved scalability, maintainability, and performance.
2. Collaborate with the Machine Learning team to seamlessly integrate predictive models into our system, ensuring they function efficiently and enhance decision-making processes.
3. Architect, design, and develop high-performance, scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot while ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
4. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and data scientists, to implement technical solutions that align with business goals.
5. Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of the system.
7. Stay updated on emerging technologies and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.
8. Participate in requirement analysis, system design, and effort estimation to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
2. 8+ years’ experience in a software engineering environment designing and developing software application features.
3. Proficiency in Java 8+, Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC), Hibernate, Elastic Search, Junit, Gradle / Maven.
4. Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
5. Strong understanding of design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices.
6. Experience with Elasticsearch, including indexing, querying, and optimizing search performance.
7. Familiarity with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB is a plus.
8. Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI / CD pipelines.
9. Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
10. Experience with Flyway (or Liquibase) is a plus.
11. Prior experience migrating legacy applications and working on large-scale, distributed systems.
