Job Description Summary

The Senior Industrial Engineering Leader is part of the Supply Chain Lean Operations Group. This role will engage with our lean and industrial engineering users across part families, shop operations, and supporting cross-functional teams that satisfy the needs for activities including capacity utilization, labor and machine utilization improvement, layout standardization, and plant loading studies.

Job Description

  1. Develop advanced competency in a wide range of Industrial Engineering Methods and Lean tools, and coach associates in the use and implementation of Lean principles.
  2. Partner, develop, and execute standard Capacity Utilization processes in partnership with the local Operations, Lean, and Industrial Engineering Leaders.
  3. Improve workflow by studying process flow charts, recommending modifications in workflow and workstations, and developing new procedures.
  4. Improve labor and machine utilization by studying work methods, layout, and equipment modifications, designing new methods, and recommending job restructuring.
  5. Share and communicate advanced industrial engineering process flows and work streams to be used by the operations as Best Practice Standards across the Supply Chain.
  6. Use Lean Process Improvement methodologies, expertise, and judgment to creatively address complicated and/or interdependent processes, develop execution plans, and communicate benefits/risk.
  7. Lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicate difficult concepts and may influence others' opinions on topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Industrial Engineering Degree Preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of facilitating lean transformations or Supply Chain operations experience.
  3. Willing to travel up to 60% of the time.

Desired Characteristics and Experience

  1. A minimum of 10 years of experience facilitating lean transformations or Supply Chain operations.
  2. Master's degree in Industrial Engineering.
  3. 3+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  4. Models the GE Behaviors (Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, Customer Driven): this is mission-critical for all GE leaders as an enabler for continuous improvement.
  5. Results orientation – must deliver sustainable results.
  6. Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a senior leader perspective and leverage lean to drive improvement.
  7. Able to influence others – must be able to inform, convince, and persuade others using lean to drive sustainable results. Highly credible.
  8. Collaborative, team orientation – knows when to lead and when to follow.
  9. Customer focused and demonstrated sense of urgency.
  10. Impactful communicator from the shop floor to the Boardroom.
  11. Knowledge of and experience applying lean in transactional and shop floor situations (standardized work, material & information flows, level production, and pull systems).
  12. Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn.
  13. Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively.
  14. Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed.
  15. Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
