Role Overview:

Ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and manageable, enabling GEMS to make data-driven decisions:

  1. Develop and maintain data storage systems: building and maintaining robust, scalable data architectures.
  2. Process and transform data: implementing processes to transform raw data into formats suitable for analysis.
  3. Optimize data flow: ensuring efficiency and speed in data transfer.
  4. Assure data quality and integrity: implementing measures to ensure data accuracy and consistency over time.
  5. Collaborate with analytics and data science teams: working closely with analysts and data scientists to prepare data for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  6. Develop data pipelines: constructing and maintaining data pipelines that support complex data workflows.
  7. Manage data security: applying security practices and protocols to protect data against unauthorized access.
  8. Automate and monitor data processes: automating repetitive tasks and monitoring data system performance.
  9. Provide user support and training: providing technical support and training to non-technical users for data access and use.
  10. Innovate and continuously learn: staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and practices in the field of data engineering.
  11. Optimize performance: continuously evaluate and optimize data systems for improved performance and scalability.
  12. Collaborate cross-functionally: work across different departments to promote data literacy and empower data-driven decision-making.
  13. Understand GEMS Energy activities: Familiar with GEMS’ role in asset optimization, trading, sales, energy markets as well as back office, risk management, etc.

Must have:

  • More than 6 years of experience
  • Python Proficiency
  • Experience with ETL, especially with AWS infrastructure and components
  • Experience with Cloud Services, specifically AWS (necessary) and Azure (desirable)
  • Advanced use of Airflow and Databricks
  • Data Modeling Experience
  • Data Warehousing Solutions Experience
  • Database Management Experience
  • Understanding of big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Effective Communication
  • Machine Learning Experience
  • Agile Development Experience
  • Experience with Docker
  • Knowledge in Data Lakes and Data Warehouses

Education and professional background:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field to provide a strong technical foundation. Certifications in relevant technologies and methodologies such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, database management, and data analytics can be beneficial.

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and High English.

Travels: Travel occasionally to headquarters or to other countries in order to share experiences or to assist to special events.
