PUBLIC RELATIONS & ISSUES MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Mission of the role

This role is essential in maintaining and enhancing our public image, developing strategic communication plans, and managing high-stakes issues that may impact our reputation.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager Global PR, the chosen candidate will have the following responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic media relations initiatives to enhance Sunstar’s public image.
• Draft corporate materials, media statements, and briefing materials.
• Coordinate multiple agencies and stakeholders at the same time.
• Provide support in key corporate projects such annual report, internal events, corporate photoshoots, etc.
• Monitor and manage issues that may impact the company’s reputation, providing strategic guidance and response plans.
• Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries and proactively engage with journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams to create and execute crisis communication strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and industry influencers.
• Analyse media coverage and provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years in media relations, crisis communications, or corporate communications, possibly within Multinational Companies with presence in multiple countries
• Fully fluent in English both written and spoken. Another language of the EMEA Region is desirable (French, German, or Italian). A Business-level Japanese would be considered a strong asset.
• Strong ability to craft clear, concise, and impactful press releases, media statements, and briefing materials
• Proven track record in developing and executing crisis communication plans, including risk assessment and rapid response strategies.
• Experience using media monitoring tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision, Brandwatch) to track coverage, sentiment, and emerging issues.
• Competence in analysing media coverage, measuring PR effectiveness, and generating reports using analytics tools.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities. In your daily work, you will have to interact with many different people across Sunstar, from different cultures, backgrounds, and roles.
