About Berklee Valencia

Berklee’s campus in Valencia is the first international campus established by Berklee College of Music, and its first campus outside of Boston. Located in the iconic City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Spain, Berklee’s Valencia campus offers four master’s degrees (MA in Global Entertainment and Music Business; MM in Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration); MM in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation; and MM in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games). In addition, Berklee’s campus in Valencia offers a study abroad program for Berklee students as well as students from partner institutions and programs; a first year abroad program for Berklee undergraduates who will complete their bachelor’s degree in Boston; and summer programs. All of these programs together provide opportunities for students from around the world to join the global music community – as performers, as practitioners, and as leaders.

Position Summary:

The Production Coordinator at Berklee College of Music’s campus in Valencia, Spain, provides support in different technical areas to the Production Department in the execution of concerts and events on and off-campus, oversees safekeeping, maintenance and operation of musical instruments, audio/visual equipment as well as performance, rehearsal and storage spaces.

Essential Functions / Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute Production Manager direction of operation for events and concerts, set up, tear down of equipment and backline.
  • Ensure proper working order of ensemble rooms, performance and rehearsal spaces and storage areas including the equipment contained in them.
  • Conduct and maintain department equipment inventory.
  • Maintain and repair equipment and backline.
  • Assist Production Manager in calendar management, communications and correspondence.
  • Provide equipment and technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist Production Manager in production planning and other tasks, as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience as a live sound engineer, show lighting engineer and/or stage manager.
  • Understanding of signal flow and configuration of audiovisual systems.
  • Strong computer skills (Google Docs, Word, Excel, QLab, DAW software, Photoshop, Arkaos, Resolume, Live).
  • Knowledge and experience with the use, operation and storage of musical instruments, PA systems, stage lighting, video, and electronic music production equipment.
  • Excellent inventory management and administrative skills, including cataloging, storage, and maintenance of equipment and documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate with administrators, faculty, staff, and students in a professional, sensitive manner.
  • Fluent level of spoken and written Spanish and English. Other languages are a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively within an ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse student population.
  • Must work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a group.
  • Eligible candidates must have the ability to live and work legally in Valencia, Spain. Visa sponsorship is not provided.
  • Strong proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Candidates may occasionally need to work flexible hours, including some nights, weekends, and travel, depending on project needs.
