JOIN OLX GENERATIVE AI DATA SCIENCE TEAM

We invite you to join us on a critical and exciting mission! Your job will be to be the technical guiding light for a GenAI team tasked with establishing Generative AI video services for all OLX customer units (Motors, Real Estate, Goods, Jobs, and Services). This is a unique opportunity! You will be part of a strategic movement inside the company, working on a team built from scratch! A team that will break through walls and build cross-functional connections with everyone around. Your job will be to provide technical guidance to a team of 4-5 Data Scientists and a Machine Learning Engineer. The team will focus on building and deploying disruptive Generative AI video services at scale across all OLX platforms.

You will be responsible for fueling the team with technical inspiration and mentoring the team members to explore and grow on the newest technologies. The overall goal is to ensure that ideas are either deployed to all users or die in production not surviving the validation. Iterate quickly, fail fast, learn, and improve.

P.S. In your day-to-day routine, you will be encouraged to mentor your team members, research state-of-the-art machine learning in the area of LLMs and GenAI, all using Python and the AWS cloud. You will be exposed to key stakeholders and have direct contact with internal customers. You will have the carte blanche to experiment and test things. And, most importantly, you will also witness how your work impacts the day-to-day business of our customers.

You will also be a mentor and a thought leader for the practice of Data Science and Analytics across the organizations that constitute OLX, finding opportunities to have an impact not only for the business and our users but also for the community of Data Scientists spread across our hubs.

What you will be doing:

1. Work in the Data Science team, focusing on LLMs and GenAI, from a platform and marketplace perspective.
2. Leading projects and initiatives done in collaboration with local Data Science and Data Engineering teams.
3. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, asking questions to translate their requirements into achievable projects.
4. Collaborate with other teams like infrastructure and data engineering to get things done in an elegant and timely manner.
5. Work with Product Analytics to track the KPIs of different ML use cases and measure the impact on our customers.
6. Partner with the Experimentation team to integrate the KPIs and their proxies into the Experimentation (A/B testing) platform.
7. Drive data science efforts in fields like trust and safety, deal prediction, search, and monetization.
8. Help formulate data science solutions to improve business jointly with product managers and engineers.
9. Ensure successful achievement of research and development objectives through stakeholder management and mentoring of junior Data Scientists.
10. Optimize models according to specific use case requirements and collaborate with team members to bring machine learning solutions into production and scale.
11. Measure the impact of your models against company goals.
12. Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software against schedules.
13. Work in multi-functional teams, in a diverse, multinational environment.

Who are we looking for:

1. Must be located in Spain.
2. Very strong analytical skills.
3. Good knowledge of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
4. Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives that drive scalable impact.
5. Ability to identify opportunities for impact in multiple domains.
6. Ability to envision the future and articulate it to a broad community of Data Scientists.
7. Deep understanding of machine learning techniques and experience applying them to solve customer/business problems.
8. Track record in leading cross-functional initiatives.
9. Industry experience creating and productionizing machine learning algorithms at scale.
10. Excited by the chance to impact the daily experience of millions of people.
11. Experience with Tensorflow or other deep learning frameworks.
12. Strong engineering background with good knowledge of Python and exposure to another programming language.
13. Experience writing SQL queries and handling large amounts of data.
14. Proficient in English with excellent communication skills.
15. Strong presentation skills.
16. Able to work in diverse, multi-functional teams.

Nice to have:

1. Experience with cloud-based tools for production use (e.g., AWS Athena, AWS Sagemaker).
2. Experience building large-scale data pipelines with open-source frameworks like Spark.
3. Experience with platforms for authoring, scheduling, and monitoring workflows (e.g., Apache Airflow).
4. Experience driving initiatives such as Tech Radar for Data Science.
