What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer working close to one of our main clients in the financial sector.

Main tasks and accountabilities will be:

1. Work with stakeholders within business and technology to understand the business needs and help to design and implement optimal solutions fostering a data-driven culture in the organisation.
2. Lead strategic prototyping workshops to better understand objectives through quick feedback loops and collaborate effectively across Global Technology Shared Services (InfoSec, Infrastructure, Production Support, etc.) to productionise the successful solutions.
3. Understand differences in the approach for building self-service BI (business or IT managed) vs Corporate BI solutions including the choice of data sources and ETL approach.
4. Drive reporting efficiencies by categorizing internal practices for streamlined reporting and define a vehicle for sharing with others, including trainings for Power BI report designers and data modellers, as well as for Power BI report consumers.
5. Act as a Power BI product evangelist to build awareness and understanding, be up to date with the changing technology landscape, help to better understand the use cases for the Power Solutions including when the alternatives would be a better fit.
6. Contribute into the Power Platform centre of excellence within the firm to create the governance structure for the implementation of PowerBI Assess adoption and customer satisfaction working collaboratively with product teams including UX specialists.
7. Be a change ambassador open to collaboration on all levels with a creative approach to each problem.

What UST expects from you?

1. Highly skilled in data analysis, data modelling and designing ETL processes.
2. 10 years experience as Data Engineer.
3. Expert at SQL with experience in performance tuning and dealing with large data volumes.
4. Good understanding of concepts of enterprise big data architectures.
5. Extensive experience of developing reporting and analytics solutions. This includes Azure Synapse, Azure SQL Database, SSAS.
6. Knowledge of Azure platform including Data Lakes, Data Warehouse, Azure Data Factory.
7. Experience of implementation of other Power Platform solutions (Power Automate, Power Apps), PowerBI.
8. Experience and good understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle, including the use of Azure DevOps, Visual Studio (SSDT) for continuous integration and deployment.
9. Understanding security model designs within the data estate.
10. Good English level (C1) as you will be working with international teams.

Nice to have:

1. Experience in building reporting governance framework and driving the adoption within the organisation is highly beneficial.
2. Experience of SAFe working practices.
3. Experience in consuming data using data interfaces such as APIs, Snowflake, databases, various file format types.
4. Understanding of Data Quality approaches such as shift left.

Work location:

100% remote within Spain.

Business Hours: No intensive working days for Friday or summer.
