About Us : The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe. CNAG aims to carry out large-scale projects in DNA / RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. CNAG researchers participate in major International Genome Initiatives such as the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.

The Role: The Senior Post-Award Grants Officer is responsible for the management of the funds received related to the projects or collaboration agreements with the different institutions that have been assigned to the Center, the control of the expenditure, the fulfilment of the conditions, as well as the post-award closure of these funds and the elaboration of financial reports. Proactively give guidance to the Center and supports Pre-award activity in obtaining competitive funds for research and Institute related activities, manages the financing of Principal Investigators with individualized professional support throughout the project lifecycle, following internal policies and the terms and conditions of the funding agencies. The Senior Post-Award Grants Officer position is integrated into the Corporate Management area and reports directly to the Head of Finance.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

1. Defining the key processes of the Post-award Grants area and participating in the department's strategy, integrated with the global strategy.
2. Manage and monitor the budget and expenditure levels of assigned projects to provide project holders with regular monitoring in relation to expenditure control, budget variances and budget forecasts, applying a strategic view of fund management.
3. Work with the Principal Investigators of the projects, carefully planning the use of the human and financial resources of the Centre's projects, both National and European.
4. To be responsible for the regular (interim and official) reporting of projects to funding agencies, as well as quarterly reports to project coordinators.
5. Maintaining the project information updated in the ERP database and monitoring the budget as well as the Centre's income.
6. Working with external auditors for the projects and responsible for project justifications.
7. Maintaining contact with the Principal Investigators of the projects and providing them with the key management information.

Whom would we like to hire?

1. Degree in Business Administration or similar.
2. Postgraduate studies in Auditing, Project Management or similar would be an asset.
3. Consolidated experience in Public Institutions, preferably Research Centers, Universities or similar.
4. English.
5. 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
6. Operating with ERP and used to reporting.
7. Organised and methodical.
8. Initiative and proactivity.
9. Working individually and as part of a team.
10. Exposed to deadlines.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills.

The Offer:

1. Contract duration : Permanent Position.
2. Estimated annual gross salary : Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales.
3. Target start date : February / March 2025.
