Role Title : APB Operations & Support Manager - Spain

Department : Affinity & Programmes Business

Location : Madrid, Spain

About the Role :

The Affinity & Programmes Business (APB) Operations and Support Analyst will support the wider team in Spain with the development and management of our Delegated Underwriting business. The role will coordinate and manage the performance monitoring of the existing APB portfolio in Spain and Portugal, across premium bookings and claims activity to identify any adverse trends in underlying profitability.

In addition, the role will manage the new business onboarding and the renewal processes. The APB Operations and Support role will have a direct reporting line into the APB Operations Manager for Europe.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Work alongside Spain Country Manager, Distribution and Underwriting to identify and develop new business opportunities with both existing and new partners.
  • Keep up to date with market developments, particularly those that relate to APB.
  • Support the APB Underwriting Manager in analysing the business, preparing the case file and facilitating the LSM due diligence and approval processes for APB relationships.
  • Support the APB Operations Manager, local operations and / or offshore partners with reviewing and validating premium, risk and claims bordereau; ensuring bookings and credit control are accurate and within expected timescales.
  • Portfolio management and oversight, specifically ensuring all coverholders are up to date with premium and claims reporting, summarising and presenting key performance metrics to the APB Management Team and wider LSM Europe stakeholders.
  • Own and manage the renewal diary and process, ensuring that all renewals are started in advance of notice of cancellation periods.
  • Support the APB Management Team with Quarterly Business Reviews (preparation of the deck, meeting notes, actions follow up).
  • Support to the APB Management Team with reporting requirements to various executive and management committees.
  • Monitor and coordinate external audits with APB Ops & Support Managers and APB Underwriting Manager.
  • Managing special projects as and when required.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and seek solutions through change or modification of processes and procedures.
  • Provide a focal point of contact to your local colleagues in coordinating, managing and working closely with them to ensure APB processes are fully understood and adopted.
  • Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, demonstrating behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, and proactively demonstrating compliance with these requirements.

Skills and Experience :

  • Knowledge and experience in the Spanish and Portuguese Insurance Markets in APB (affinity, facility, scheme, portfolio solutions and binder) business and processes.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of underwriting and underwriting processes.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and demonstrated capacity to achieve project deliverables on time.
  • Business analytics skills critical – demonstrates a measured and structured approach to analysis.
  • Comfortable reviewing detailed information, piecing it together and preparing summarised case files with clear communication.
  • Project management: ability to demonstrate an organised approach and ability to manage different stakeholders across the business.
  • Effective knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese legal and regulatory regimes.
  • Suitable understanding of financial and actuarial principles to assess risk.
  • Using analytical tools including Excel and Power BI.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish. Portuguese would be an advantage.
