Your Role

As a Multimedia Manager, you will oversee multiple projects with shifting priorities while maintaining a strategic vision. Your technical expertise will be crucial in assessing skills for new hires and leading a high-performing team. Working within the Technology department and collaborating closely with Communications and Operations, you will integrate emerging technologies into content production, ensuring technical feasibility and enhancing efficiency.

You will be primarily responsible for broadcast and video requirements at The Ocean Race’s Alicante HQ, overseeing remote TV production, technical engineering, and live streaming. Additionally, you will manage the reception and distribution of live audio/video signals from stopover locations and implement onboard video and audio systems for the IMOCA boats.

You will report to the Head of IT.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Broadcast Management

  • Oversee the budgeting of broadcast and multimedia requirements, including workflow, boat media systems, live shows, Alicante HQ production, 2D/3D graphics systems, and special projects.
  • Ensure seamless multimedia operations across The Ocean Race’s Data Centre and Broadcast HQ Engineering Rack.
  • Maintain and optimize the multimedia system for The Ocean Race Museum.
  • Manage onboard reporter (OBR) equipment requirements and logistics.
  • Lead setup, coordination, and execution of live streaming, encoding, and commentary systems at Alicante HQ and stopover locations.
  • Ensure containers are prepared for shipping and on-site technical deployment.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Communications Department to align multimedia capabilities with content strategy and technical feasibility.
  • Provide support for events, hospitality, and other departments as needed.
  • Assist remote users and teams with cloud-based business applications and multimedia workflows.

Operational & Logistical Oversight

  • Manage and control an inventory system for all multimedia assets.
  • Maintain multimedia office functionality and technical support infrastructure.
  • Provide out-of-hours and weekend support on a rotational basis during race periods.

General Support & Event Contribution

  • Assist colleagues in the production and success of The Ocean Race event.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives, reflecting The Ocean Race’s commitment to ocean conservation.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications & Skills

  • Extensive experience in multimedia production, broadcasting, and live streaming.
  • Strong technical knowledge of audio/video encoding, signal distribution, and multimedia workflows.
  • Experience with remote TV production and digital content strategies.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and broadcasting tools.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
  • Ability to lead projects, manage budgets, and oversee a technical team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to work under pressure, meeting tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Additional Considerations

  • Must live in or be able to relocate to Alicante, Spain.
  • EU national or ability to obtain necessary EU working permits.
