We are seeking a highly skilled engineer with experience in the design, development, and qualification of military or aerospace electromechanical devices and/or munitions. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in developing products through a full life cycle and be comfortable working in a hands-on engineering environment, taking products from prototype to production. The role requires someone comfortable working with electromechanical devices and can guide the implementation and integration of mechanical and electronic sub-systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Design and develop electro-mechanical and mechanical devices for UAV munition systems.
- Prototype Development: Assemble prototypes for development testing and evaluation & oversee pilot builds to support product industrialization.
- Testing & Validation: Assist test programs for functional and environmental testing.
- Product Data Management: Organize and accurately document product data throughout the life cycle.
- Industrialization: Ensure a smooth transition from prototype to production through accurate documentation and data management, including generating product PMIs, implementing DFMA/DFM updates, and managing the change management process.
- Supplier Engagement: Provide technical expertise to the supply chain to qualify and source suitable suppliers.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters degree (B.Sc/B.Eng) in mechanical/Mechatronic engineering.
- 4+ years of experience in defense and/or aerospace environment or similar (post-graduation).
- Computer-aided design (Siemens NX preferred).
- Proficient in electromechanical system design, including switches, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
- Hands-on experience assembling and testing prototype hardware.
- Good understanding of product data management in a production environment.
- Experience in generating and organizing product data for implementation, including generating PMIs, guiding pilot builds, and running qualification testing.
- Advantage: Experience implementing SW/FW of electromechanical devices in a production environment.
- Strong technical communication and reporting skills.
- Product Development Experience: Demonstrated experience handling products through different product life cycle stages from NPD to industrialization.
- Mil-Spec Products: Highly advantageous to possess experience in the development of devices for mil-spec products.
- Energetics: Highly advantageous to have prior experience in working with and testing energetic materials and devices.
The position will be based in Madrid, Spain. Open to traveling to test ranges during product development cycles – can require extensive traveling for short periods during intensive test programs. Hybrid working – expect to be onsite for prototype builds and assembly and site visits to suppliers. Driver's license and good interpersonal skills are required.
