The Neurodegenerative Diseases group is creating a new Lab Technician position.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry or a related field and a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences or a related field
- Specific training in laboratory research: animal experimentation, molecular biology techniques, and histology techniques
- Accredited for animal manipulation
- Business-level English
Desired:
- Fluency in Catalan and Spanish
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
- At least 2 years of experience working in the field of Neuroscience
- At least 2 years of experience working with animal models and knowledge of animal experimentation techniques (stereotaxic injection of AdenoAssociatedViral Vectors (AAV), behavioral tests)
- Previous experience processing animal samples (brain and tissue dissection, tissue sectioning using a cryostat and a microtome)
- Experience and knowledge of laboratory histological techniques (e.g. stereological cell analysis, IHC, IF, confocal microscopy) and molecular techniques (ELISA, WB)
- Experience in image acquisition for IHC and IF samples
- Experience in specific software for image and data analysis (OlyVIA, ImageJ, GraphPad, QuPath, Adobe Illustrator)
- Proficiency in both oral and written English
Desired:
- Previous knowledge in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, specifically in Parkinson’s Disease
- Expertise in statistical methods to analyze and interpret data effectively
- Experience in developing Artificial Intelligence algorithms for neuronal and glial markers
- Experience with PCR techniques
- Ability to work in a teamwork-oriented environment
- Excellent communication skills
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Participation as a lab technician in the research project “Activity and connectivity drive neuronal vulnerability and disease progression in Parkinson’s disease”
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week
- Starting date: January 2025
- Gross annual salary: 23000 euros
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
