The Opportunity

Our Madrid office is looking for an Engineering or Geography student to support our team based in Madrid. The person will gain experience in the preparation of various transportation planning studies for a broad portfolio of projects.

As a Junior Transport Planner at Arup, you will:

1. Collaborate in the construction and simulation of transportation models, including data collection, network coding, and demand analysis.
2. Support pedestrian modelling projects, including the creation of geometric models and demand coding.
3. Participate in transportation strategies & studies: evaluate transportation alternatives, mobility plans, and traffic and mobility studies.
4. Use transportation analysis software and initiate system changes when necessary.
5. Analyse examples of national and international best practices to identify innovative and applicable solutions.
6. Support the preparation of presentations and reports related to transportation studies and traffic modelling work.
7. Exhibit a positive attitude and work as a team. Take initiative and responsibility, while maintaining good customer relations and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Be self-motivated, eager to learn, and ready to tackle new challenges every day.

Does this role inspire you? We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and dynamic with good computer skills and a desire to work on demanding projects. Ideally, you'll bring:

1. A degree or Master's in Transportation Engineering, Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Urban Planning or a related field.
2. 1-3 years of experience in traffic modelling, transport, and pedestrian planning.
3. Advanced use of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
4. Fluent written and spoken skills in Spanish and English (C1 level).
5. A keen desire to improve transport systems and willingness to learn new software.
6. Numerical inclination and analytical skills, with good computer proficiency.
7. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing the results of analyses and modelling.
