Job Description

In line with current Eurofins terminology, Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics Business in Spain requires an ITIST Manager (Information Technology Infrastructure Services Team) reporting to the Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics Managing Director.

The primary interactions for this role include:

  • Heads of business departments.
  • Regional Information Security Officer.
  • Other Eurofins IT counterparts (e.g., Regional Infrastructure Manager).

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team, including system administrators, software owners, project managers, and support staff.
  • Develop and implement training, career development, and performance management plans for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that promotes accountability and continuous improvement.

IT Strategy and Planning

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define IT strategies aligned with the business objectives of the laboratory testing group.
  • Ensure IT strategies support the organisation’s mission by optimising processes related to testing operations, quality control, compliance, and client service.
  • Develop and oversee IT roadmaps, resource allocation, and budgets.

PMO IT Integration Office

  • Lead the IT integration of a recently acquired group.
  • Define and execute the "as-is" and "to-be" plans for IT solutions and infrastructure.
  • Design and implement the Day 1 and 100-day plans.
  • Manage existing and new capabilities to ensure timely execution with no business disruption.

IT Infrastructure and Systems Management

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, data centres, and cloud solutions.
  • Ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical IT systems supporting laboratory testing.
  • Manage hardware and software solutions integrated with LIMS and other laboratory-specific technologies.

LIMS Management and Optimisation

  • Lead the implementation, upgrades, and optimisation of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to support seamless testing operations.
  • Collaborate with laboratory teams to address system requirements for managing sample data, test results, inventory, and compliance reporting.

Project Management and IT Governance

  • Oversee the IT Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery of system upgrades and technology implementations.
  • Implement and maintain IT governance policies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure robust risk management and disaster recovery plans are in place.

Technology Solutions and Innovation

  • Explore and implement new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for digital transformation, such as automation, AI integration, and data analytics, to improve testing accuracy, turnaround times, and cost efficiencies.

Cybersecurity and Data Protection

  • Develop and execute cybersecurity strategies to safeguard sensitive laboratory data, intellectual property, and client information.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as HIPAA, ISO, and FDA guidelines on data privacy and cybersecurity.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring quality service delivery and effective contract negotiation.
  • Collaborate with other departments and the Group IT team to identify IT needs and deliver solutions aligned with the Group IT roadmap.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Provide regular updates to the Division Managing Director and senior executives on IT performance and project progress.
  • Develop KPIs and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of IT investments.
  • Manage IT budgets and capital expenditure plans effectively.

Qualifications

Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience managing IT infrastructure and solutions teams, with direct responsibility for IT budget performance.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in data centres, systems, or network administration, preferably in Microsoft on-premises or cloud environments.
  • Experience in managing IT infrastructure for both Business-to-Consumer and Business-to-Business models, as well as designing and implementing disaster recovery plans.
  • Prior experience in the healthcare sector is advantageous.

Skills and Competences

  • Practical knowledge of the ITIL framework is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding and practical experience of Azure offerings are advantageous.
  • Experience in implementing ISO 27001 or ISO 22301 is a plus.
  • Holding a Project Management certification is beneficial.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Skilled at managing vendor and service supplier relationships.

Additional Requirements

  • Full proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Availability for frequent travel within Spain if required.
