The Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III (F.S.P.) CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

Functions:

  • Acquire training in the area of artificial intelligence and big data applied to cardiovascular research.
  • Develop new AI tools for biomedical data analysis.
  • Apply AI algorithms in order to extract relevant information for the better characterization of cardiovascular health and disease.
  • Use different big data techniques for integrative biomedical data analysis.

9 positions for PhD students are open to work in different labs and research lines at CNIC, within the cardiotrAIning program. This training program in AI and Big Data for Cardiovascular Health will involve theoretical and practical courses by prominent researchers in the field, placements in national and international collaborating institutions and the opportunity to pursue a doctoral thesis working in a research line involving the use of AI to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of CV disease.

This grant/contract is funded by the European NextGenerationEU funds in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan through the Talent Attraction and Retention Programs initiative.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree (300 ECTS or more) or bachelor's and master's degrees, which give access to the doctoral program.
  • Not to have enjoyed another contract under the same pre-doctoral title in accordance with article 21 of the Law of Science.
  • Not already be in possession of a Doctor's degree from any Spanish or foreign university.

Valuable Requirements:

  • C1. Academic excellence. It will be evaluated according to the grade of the academic records.
  • C2. Hold a degree in medicine or engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or similar disciplines.
  • C3. Hold a Master's degree in areas related to data analytics, such as Bioinformatics, Data Science, Engineering or similar disciplines.
  • C4. Be pre-admitted/admitted to a doctoral program.
  • C5. Interview.

Recruitment Plan:

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, set forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-based recruitment system (concurso), the competition (concurso-oposición) must be the recruitment system.”

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.

At least the 3 candidates with the highest score, as long as they reach the minimum of 50 points as a sum of criteria (C1‐C4) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C5) is higher than 65 points.
