As an Associate Business Developer Spain, you will build a robust network of contacts in exciting fields of technological innovation, ranging from drug development to med-tech in Spain. You will be primarily responsible for generating leads and assisting in maintaining existing relationships within our business development teams. You will support in connecting innovators with the right funding opportunities. We believe that success in this role demands a high tolerance for rejection and the ability to cultivate relationships that may not yield immediate results but will grow into meaningful partnerships over time.

Spain Team

Our Spain Team is a growing, dynamic unit established in 2024, based in Barcelona (Sarria-Sant Gervasi). You will be joining a highly qualified team, including our Country Manager and an Innovation Consultant, collaborating closely with colleagues in the Netherlands to drive impact globally. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and expanding division, where your contributions will directly shape business development efforts in Spain’s Life Sciences & Health sector. You will be presented with an opportunity to directly learn from Seniors, work alongside our Country Manager, and leverage our Learning & Development Plan to chart a career in Sales & Business Development in the dynamic field of Life Sciences & Health Innovation.

Associate Business Developer Spain - Life Sciences & Health

The Associate Business Developer will have a crucial role in supporting the sales performance of the team by identifying new leads, both from new and existing clients.

This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to kick-start their careers in sales within the Life Sciences and Health innovation space. You'll be working with the latest technologies that have the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones, addressing big societal and environmental challenges. One day you’ll talk to the CEO of a startup company with a promising innovation such as a Medical Devices company, the next day to a professor within one of the leading universities in Europe discussing innovations in Health.

Conversations will revolve around understanding a client’s innovation, funding requirements & needs and proposing some preliminary solutions such as matching funding (grant) opportunities to their needs and showcasing Catalyze's expertise in tapping into these opportunities.

Associate Business Developer in Spain will eventually develop an understanding of National Grants in the region and also grants commissioned by the EU and benefit from working closely with our small but highly qualified team in Barcelona and is provided with an attractive growth path supported by Learning & Development opportunities to chart a career in Sales & Business Development to become experts in the field of the Funding Landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Intensive network building with innovative companies and academic leaders in the field of Life Sciences and Health.
  • Developing a pipeline of strong leads that will convert into sales opportunities over time.
  • Establishing yourself as a trusted advisor in the Life Sciences and Health funding landscape.

Tasks

  • First few months will be dedicated primarily to prospecting and relationship building.
  • You will be expected to make a high volume of cold outreach to potential clients and industry experts.
  • Build an in-depth understanding of Life Sciences and Health sectors, including Drug Development, MedTech, Biotech, and others.
  • Immediate sales results are not the primary metric of success; instead, focus will be on building a quality network and pipeline and supporting our business development teams.

Qualifications & Competences

  • Master's degree in Life Sciences & Health related fields.
  • Spanish native speaker preferably living in (or willing to move to) Barcelona with excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English.
  • Networking abilities and the drive to continuously expand your professional circle.
  • High level of resilience and ability to maintain motivation in the face of frequent rejection.
  • Strategic thinking to identify and nurture high-potential leads for long-term success.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with both technical experts and business leaders.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently towards long-term goals.
  • Candidates with an entrepreneurial mindset are particularly encouraged to apply.
