Head of Information Architecture, R&D; Enterprise Information Architecture

Introduction to role: Join our Enterprise Data Office (EDO) as the Head of Information Architecture, R&D; Enterprise Information Architecture (EIA). This leadership role will support the development and structure of data frameworks, solutions, and applications designed specifically for R&D; but also across the AstraZeneca Enterprise. This includes defining, bringing to bear, and extending standard AstraZeneca reference architectures, data models, and design patterns. Our R&D; focused EIA team partners with various R&D; functions to deliver strategic value.

Accountabilities: As the Head of Information Architecture, you will lead a team of Information Architects focused on the delivery of Information Architecture across R&D;. You will be responsible for defining FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data strategies for the R&D; organization and connecting with a Data Mesh strategy. You will collaborate closely with R&D; Data Governance teams to ensure that both Information Architecture and Data Management activities are closely connected and embedded into our ways of working. You will also contribute to the definition and governance of enterprise Master and Reference Data Management architectures, strategies, designs, and models by ensuring that R&D; requirements are defined and embedded into Enterprise strategies for master data.

Essential Skills/Experience:

1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
2. Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and at least one R&D; lifecycle/function.
3. Significant experience in framing and delivering enterprise data platform/master data management architectural thinking and its practical application.
4. Experience in defining and working with information and data regulatory governances.
5. Blend of data/information architecture, analysis, and engineering skills.
6. Experience in planning, leading, collaborating, and working as a member of a technical/architectural delivery team.
7. Significant experience in people management, coaching, and career development of high-performing individuals and teams.
8. Experience with known industry IT architectural patterns and IT architecture methodologies (e.g., FAIR data principles, Data Mesh).
9. Experience in Agile data definition scrums.
10. Understanding of Data Platforms concepts and cloud-based containerization strategies for hybrid cloud environments.
11. Familiarity with data lifecycles and appropriate data structures based on business use cases.
12. Experience in the use of data modeling tools/technologies.
13. Post-graduate degree in MIS, Data Management, or equivalent domain.
14. Extensive experience in a senior information/data architecture role with practical examples of designing end-to-end and point data architecture designs or blueprints.
15. Experience with Information and Data Governance frameworks and their application in a commercial organization.
