At Hempel, we’re on a mission to double our impact. From decorative paint to marine coatings across the world. To succeed, we need to move fast. Most importantly, we need you, your ideas, drive and ambition. If you have the drive to contribute and embrace new challenges, you’ll enjoy great opportunities with us.

Be part of a global, passionate team

As a global leader in coatings and paints, we are looking for a Services Safety Manager with strong project management skills to drive our Safety agenda within Services. In this pivotal role, you will develop and implement an ambitious yet achievable Service Safety Strategy. You will ensure that safety initiatives are designed with the unique challenges of our employees working in diverse and dynamic customer sites.

Beyond Safety, you will also lead key scalability and optimization projects, driving efficiency and innovation within our services organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact—enhancing safety in complex, on-site customer environments while optimizing how we deliver our services.

This role will report directly to our Service Projects and Process Director and will be based in either our Polinyá – Spain, Gdansk – Poland or Lyngby, Denmark office. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work daily with colleagues and customers from around the world.

Here’s some of the other things you can look forward to:

  1. Oversee safety excellence programs and compliance assessments in collaboration with regional Services and QSHE departments.
  2. Coordinate on-site safety audits and other relevant Safety initiatives, follow-up on improvements and their implementation.
  3. Ensure effective communication and implementation of QHSE policies, laws, and industry standards.
  4. Provide HSE leadership, training, and operational support to all levels of the service organization.
  5. Lead cross-cultural projects to standardize and optimize safety and service processes.
  6. Develop and implement measurable performance indicators.
  7. Own and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for services.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  1. Experience within QHSE, preferably in Shipyards, operational sites and/or factories.
  2. Academic background and/or degree in QHSE.
  3. Extensive experience in project management. Experience in Services, Technical, and/or Coatings, particularly in Marine, Energy, and Infrastructure, is highly valued.
  4. Leadership and hands-on skills in HSE issues in major operating facilities.
  5. Strong skills in documentation, presentation, and data analysis.
  6. Verbal and written proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
