The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses Mare Nostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is now the hosting entity for Euro HPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress. Context And Mission
The DARE Global Project Manager will be responsible for providing timely and efficient coordination of the DARE project (Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe), a strategic project for BSC aimed at addressing Europe’s deficit in digital autonomy for High Performance Computing and AI, by creating truly European products for the next generation of EU supercomputers for research and industry. The DARE Global Project Manager will closely work with the DARE Global Technical Coordinator and report to the Senior Project Manager for BSC’s Computer Science department, located within the Project Management Office (PMO).
Key Duties
- Leading and managing a group of 5 project managers involved in the DARE project.
- Implementing cutting-edge project management tools and methodologies to enhance communication and streamline processes, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Coordinating technical meetings and reviews, and organizing meetings with the funding authority as requested.
- Carefully planning resource use, monitoring work progress, anticipating possible problems, and maintaining excellent communication with the DARE Global Technical Coordinator and the project officer from the funding agency.
- Tracking budgets and effort spent, producing resource reports to ensure project expenditure aligns with work progress.
- Supporting the Global Technical Coordinator and Technical Area Coordinators to monitor technical progress and implement top-down risk monitoring.
- Delivering best-in-class project quality, scheduling, deliverables, and budget management.
- Preparing and submitting high-quality periodic reports on time.
- Assisting in resolving possible conflicts between partners.
- Leading the negotiation and drafting of DARE related contracts to protect BSC's and its researchers' interests.
- Supporting the Computer Science PMO team with other management tasks and sharing best practices.
Requirements- Education: University degree, with related courses in project management and research project proposal preparation as a plus.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience: At least five years of experience in European research project management (full lifecycle).
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience: Experience coordinating research proposals and projects funded by the Framework Programme of the European Commission, and familiarity with the Spanish Plan Estatal and bilateral contracts with companies would be advantageous.
- Competences: Fluency in English, excellent written and verbal communication skills, willingness to travel, ability to work autonomously and under pressure with strict deadlines, and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalents).
Conditions- The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department.

- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus the 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
- Salary: A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, considering the cost of living in Barcelona.
- Starting date: 01/01/2025.
